How to get to Nellim?

Daily flights Helsinki - Ivalo of the airline Finnair, www.finnair.fi  

The transfer of groups of 1-5 persons from the airport to Nellim takes about 50 minutes and costs 80 euros (one way). We can arrange on request transport services between the airport and Nellim.
From Rovaniemi there is a bus or train connection with the terminal in Ivalo, from there you can take a bus or a taxi to get to Nellim. www.vr.fi , www.matkahuolto.fi  

When does winter begin in Nellim?

The first snow normally falls around the middle of October and from mid-November  the snow cover is thick enough to allow for winter activities. As for the Lake Inari, it is usually from early December that the ice is thick enough to allow for winter ativities on the ice. However, given that weather conditions vary from year to year, it is advisable to check by visiting the Weather Services site, www.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi  

What is the best time to view the Northern Lights?

The winter months from November to April are the most appropriate. One can observe the northern lights during the night, even early in the night, but the best time is usually between 21:00 and 01:00.

What kind of clothes should I bring?

A set of winter equipment is available including:
Coverall, boots, wool socks, gloves, a balaclava hood and a hat. You must bring thermal underwear, a fleece jacket or wool sweater, also lighter clothing (the temperatures are not always that cold) and winter socks (e.g. wool mix socks)
